The Chainsmokers, best known as the hit-making duo who worked with the likes of Coldplay, Halsey, Daya, and Rozes, have recently given us a behind-the-scenes look at the making of their new hit “Somebody”. In the sneak-peak video, it is clear that this tune is reminiscent of all the synth-pop we have come to expect of the pair. Mixed with mesmerizing vocals and soothing piano, the song itself is sure to make them an even more popular household name.
The former disc jockey and production twosome consists of Alex Pall and Rhett Bixler. According to Pall, their name was decided upon after randomly purchasing the domain name while smoking weed. Their influencers comprise the likes of Linkin Park, deadmau5, and Pharrell Williams, which explains the various genres they have been attached to, including dance, pop, and indie.
Fresh off their 2017: Memories… Do Not Open tour, The Chainsmokers signed a contract to exclusively perform in Wynn-owned nightclubs in Las Vegas through to the year 2019. This move guaranteed that they are a Las Vegas entertainment staple and come highly regarded by tourists and Las Vegas locals. Not only is the popular duo known for laying beats that make people want to dance, but they create songs that remain stuck in our heads for days, ensuring that we want to hear more and more from them.
Although The Chainsmokers’ Las Vegas residency is soon to end, they are sure to take up residence elsewhere in due time if the need should arise. It is yet to be determined where the duo is off to next, or if the pair will decide to tour again. Whatever they decide, it is safe to say that The Chainsmokers have created yet another Billboard-top hit in “Somebody” and that they will be around to create more dance-inducing magic for many years to come.
